To help make the road safer, the Volkswagen ID. 4 features ‘e-sound’, which generates a futuristic composition up to a speed of 30km/h, as an audible indication the car is present for pedestrians and cyclists.

Details about Emergency Assist

If you stop driving as a result of a medical emergency, the optional Emergency Assist can register this and try to reactivate you.² If he is unsuccessful, he can bring the vehicle to a controlled stop within the limits of the system and can thus prevent an accident if necessary.

Details about Proactive occupant protection

The Proactive Occupant Protection System can detect dangerous situations with the potential for accidents and automatically take precautions depending on the situation.¹

- The windows and sunroof are closed to a crack to optimise the effectiveness of the airbags.

- The front seat belts are tightened at lightning speed to secure the driver and front passenger.

- The hazard lights are activated.

For an all-round overview

Manoeuvring in the busy city centre, in a multi-storey car park or in rough terrain: There are many situations in which drivers could use a few extra eyes. With the optional "Area View" you get four cameras that capture the area around the car and transmit helpful insights to the screen of the infotainment system. For example, you can see curbs or parking markings better and can even look around the corner.¹

Dynamic Light Assist improves visibility at night.

By detecting oncoming traffic and vehicles ahead, the system can automatically and dynamically mask those areas to avoid dazzling fellow drivers. In built-up areas, the system can also switch between main beam and dipped beam. This means you will have maximum visibility of the road ahead and will not need to manually switch between high and low beams¹.
